Child learning with onebillion

A sanctuary
of learning

through child-first EdTech

Every child numerate and reading with joy

onebillion develops onecourseaward-winning, adaptive software delivering foundational literacy and numeracy through inclusive, child-centred pedagogy and play-based learning.

9 randomised controlled trials show significant gains in literacy and numeracy when children use our software, with girls making the same progress as boys.

onecourse is delivered on onetabslow-cost, offline, robust devices that can be solar-powered and locked to onecourse, to deliver joyful and meaningful learning sessions in resource-constrained contexts.

Currently, over 2 million children are learning with onecourse, in 6 languages and across 17 countries.

The child comes first

onebillion is a non-profit dedicated to meeting the educational needs of children, wherever they are. We put the rights of the child above everything else - which is why onecourse has been built to adapt to each child with no personal login and no collection of children’s personal data.

We always design with individual children in mind, addressing the real challenges they face. We are committed to innovation, seeking the most appropriate technology to deliver a product that scaffolds different contextual and learning needs within the same inclusive experience.

We only want to work with organisations who have the highest ethical regard for children’s rights. We believe that children should learn in a safe, joyful sanctuary free from continual monitoring and data harvesting.

Partnering for scale

One billion children numerate and reading isn’t a goal we can achieve alone. We work with exceptional partners to bring onetab to the children who need it most. These include governments and scaling partners with the vision to develop contextually-relevant implementations; researchers to ensure we are only scaling what works well; and funders who support the upfront and running costs of programmes that centre the child and the context in which they are learning.
